How To Take The CBC Test From Lab Me
Updated over 7 months ago

The Lab Me CBC at-home blood test is an innovative solution, enabling you to monitor your health without the need for a traditional laboratory visit. Follow these steps for a smooth and accurate testing experience:

Preparing for Your CBC Test:

  1. Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water the night before and an hour in the morning before taking the test.

  2. Help increase blood flow by keeping your hand dangling for at least two minutes before using the lancet.

  3. Use a warm, damp washcloth to wrap your hand while it's dangling. Remove the washcloth after no more than two minutes, dry your hand, use the alcohol prep pad, and perform the fingerstick quickly.

  4. If blood drops are not forming or stop forming after the first droplet is collected, firmly wipe the puncture spot with the provided gauze. You can also re-stick yourself with another lancet in the same spot and wipe with the gauze again to encourage blood flow.

    Collecting Your CBC Test Sample:

  5. Fill the tube to the 500ml line for optimal results.

  6. Invert the tube at least 20 times to mix the sample properly.

  7. Maintaining Accuracy and Chain of Custody:

  8. Complete the consent form, add the barcodes, and ensure the chain of custody is maintained. This is crucial for the accuracy and reliability of your results.

  9. Using the pre-paid mailing bag, ship your sample the same day you took it Monday through Thursday.

    Results and Processing Times:

  10. It takes the laboratory 3-5 business days to process the results.

  11. Please note that if any issues arise with your CBC test and you have not purchased insurance, a full-price replacement test will be required. However, if you have opted for insurance coverage, we will collect a $30 processing fee and promptly send you a new test kit.

  12. Please keep in mind that the laboratory does not operate on weekends.

  13. You should receive your tracking information within 1-3 days of placing your order, and the kit should arrive 3-5 days after ordering. It should take another 3-5 days for the kit to reach the lab after you send it back.
